Ettrick Industris was established as a non-profit corporation with the first meeting on April 26, 1060 by some business leaders of Ettrick. The purpose of the organization was to build a structure to house a factory for ETCO who was looking for a locaiton in Ettrick. A fee of $100 was charged to become a shareholder of Ettrick Industries. This share earned no profit and was nontransferrable. It was for the betterment of Ettrick.
In the early 1970's the Ettrick Lions Club purchase the Ted Swenson farm east of the village. A number of the Lions' members were also shareholders of Ettrick Industries. Part of the farm was given to the village for the purpose of building a new ballpark. It was the dream of RJ Ofsdahl and others to build a golf course on the remaidner of the property. Gordon Emerson was hired to design a nine-hole cours. An exacavation company was hired to create the course and started work in 1976. The completon of the course and improvements over the next few years was by volunteers from Ettrick and the surrounding community. No tax dollars ever went in to building of the Ettrick Golf Course. It truly was a community project. The first round of golf was played in 1978. The Ettrick Lions gave ownership to the non-profit Ettrick Industries Corporation to run. The Ettrick Golf Course is a sourc eof pride to all those that have had a part in its creation and operation to this day. The goad is to provide a place for golfers of all ages and abilities to have fun at a fair price.
